Why Geothermal?

Geothermal Energy taps into the heat from the earth. It provides a virtually free source of energy once the initial investment has been made for the infrastructure and the equipment used to tap the heat source. 

Pros and Cons

Virtually free once installed, but the upfront costs are high, especially for ground source heat pumps.

Technologies and Costs

Installing a heat pump does not come cheap. Estimates range from £8,000-15,000 for air source heat pumps in the UK. 

Projects and Potential

Geothermal potential is huge, but the labour force ready to put in heat pumps is limited.
